ANDALUCIAN RESCUE CENTRE FOR HORSES (ARCH)
“I said, “Somebody should do something about that“.
Then I realised, I am somebody” – Lily Tomlin.
What We Do
RESCUING HORSES, PONIES & DONKEYS
We are a registered charity and work closely with Seprona (environmental law enforcement) and the local police, as we have no powers to confiscate.
To report an Equine in Distress, please click on the following link.
REHABILITATION & REHOMING
Once our horses and donkeys are fully rehabilitated, our main aim is to find them a forever home.
To see our available equines and complete an online adoption form, click on ‘Adopt’.
To view some of our favourite ‘before and after’ success stories, view the e-book.
VOLUNTARY SUPPORT
Our charity is staffed by volunteers and we depend on fundraising activities and donations to carry on our work. Your support will mean a great deal.
Featured Equines
Revoltosa
Dark bay mare

Born in 2013
Revoltosa was rescued from an unscrupulous animal dealer in La Linea together with many other equines in February 2026.
Gabbi
Grey donkey jenny
130 cm
Born in ??
Gabbi was abandoned in Alhaurin el Grande. The Local Police asked us to collect her and her previous owner handed her over without an issue. She is super cuddly and easy to handle. Needs lots of attention to thrive.
Marco
Donkey Gelding
130 cm
Born 2014
Update: Marco was returned to ARCH in April 2026 because his adopter had fallen seriously ill.
Marco was originally rescued from the closed down “zoo” in Ayamonte, Huelva, in 2022. He is friendly and affectionate and will make a good companion.
Pastora
Grey mare
148 cm
Born 2016
Pastora was found abandoned after her owner’s death in Guadix.
She is a nice mare, but can be protective of food.
She will do well with one to one handling.
